Smith Greenbelt
Smith Greenbelt
Smith Greenbelt provides the citizens of Lakeway with a short but wonderful hiking trail which wonders along Hurst Creek. It is a fabulous place for a family outing, exercise jog, or to walk the dog (on a leash, of course). The 4.5 acre greenbelt was made possible through a generous donation from Coleman and Mary Smith.
Entering Smith Greenbelt
There are two entrances to the Smith Greenbelt. The main entrance, off Lohman's Crossing Road, is right across the street from the Hamilton Greenbelt entranced and parking lot. If you drive your to Smith Greenbelt, the best place to park is either in the City Hall parking lot or Hamilton Greenbelt parking lot. You can also enter the Smith Greenbelt from Lakeway Drive. However, this entrance has no parking facilities.
Enjoying Smith Greenbelt
The Smith Greenbelt trail is primitive, but well maintained by the Lakeway City Parks and Recreation Department. It is also a great place for mountain biking. The trails are interesting, on either foot or bike. Remember safety and be sure to wear your helmet! The next bright sunny day pack up the family and head for Smith Greenbelt. You won't regret it!
