The Lakeway Police Department has started a new program for our senior and disabled citizens. This program is a partnership between the Police Department, seniors and disabled citizens of the community. The program is called "Code Blue".
The purpose of this program is as follows.
- Allow our senior and disabled citizens to meet and get to know the officers so they can develop a close partnership with the police. This will result in the citizens feeling comfortable in calling the police to report concerns and suspicious activities.
- To help the department know and understand the concerns of our seniors and disabled citizens.
- To check as often as possible with senior and disabled citizens to help and assist them in as many ways as possible.
- To check on the health and well being of our citizens on a monthly basis. This includes making any needed referrals to other agencies and to the families of the senior.
- Develop a network to keep seniors aware of any "scams" being directed against seniors.
