Election Information - May 11, 2013
As of the close of business on March 1, 2013, there was no contest among the candidates who filed for a place on the May 11, 2013 ballot. Therefore, at their regular monthly meeting in March, the City Council declared the unopposed candidates elected and cancelled the City's General Election. On May 20, 2013, the following candidates will be sworn into office: incumbent Mayor Dave De Ome and incumbent Councilmember Joe Bain, who will both serve another two-year term on the city council, and candidates Phil Brown and Jim Powell, who will fill the other two open councilmember seats.

For the third time since the road maintenance tax was initiated in 2001 and reauthorized in 2005 and 2009, Lakeway voters approved the following proposition at a Special Election on Saturday, May 11, 2013: 
                        
                        The reauthorization of a local sales and use tax in the City of Lakeway at the rate of one fourth
                        of one percent (1/4%) to provide revenue for maintenace and repair of municipal streets. 

Travis County released the unofficial results late Saturday night, indicating that Prop 1 passed by a count of 534 votes to 173, a total of 707 votes cast.
Early Voting Totals for Prop 1: 387 For and 118 Against.
Election Day Totals for Prop 1: 147 For and 55 Against.
Final results are scheduled for canvass at the Special Lakeway City Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
