Each year at our annual Memorial Day Event the names of veterans who have passed away are recited by branch of service.  This year a special reading of names of veterans' spouses who have passed away since last Memorial Day will also be recited.  The sacrifices of spouses and other family members of those veterans who served our country in uniform during periods of armed conflict must also be remembered.

The Heritage Commission is soliciting the names of veterans and their spouses who have passed away since Memorial Day 2007.  The cooperation of the general public in this effort is sincerely appreciated.  Please contact the Heritage Center by calling or emailing.

The goal of the Heritage Commission is to preserve, protect, and promote the documents, photographs, and memorabilia that chronicle Lakeway history.

In the year 2000, the land known now as Heritage Park was deeded from the Lakeway Historical Society, Inc., to the City of Lakeway with the provision that the land may be used, developed or improved to: Further the collection, preservation, storage and display of Lakeway historical items Be a repository for the official and historical records regarding the geographical area of Lakeway Develop pride in Lakeway's heritage, growth and development Educate youth and adults about Lakeway's historical significance Promote Lakeway's historical sites and legends

Following a complete demolition and rebuilding effort of the original Historical Society building in 2005, the new Heritage Center was dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11, 2005. The new construction included the restoration of a portion of the original ranch house erected in the 1930’s (seen in the front-center of the photograph). The Center includes an archive storage room, the archivist’s office, public restrooms, a small kitchen, and a meeting room.
